Getting Quality Time With Your Children

If you are like most working mothers you worry that you are not spending enough time with your kids. Fitting everything that needs to be done in a day can be a huge challenge, and quite often we have trouble balancing everything. If has been found though, that there is no need to feel guilty about working outside of the home as long as you make the most out of the time that you have to spend with your kids each day.

Quality time is just as important as quantity of time. Even some of the ordinary day to day things you do can be turned into quality time if you just think about it and make the most of them. Here are some examples.

Instead of picking up a magazine the next time you are waiting at  doctors office, play a game with your child. It can be a rhyming game, or find letters on signs posted around the office. The next time you are standing in line at the bank, or in a store, take turns guessing how many things are in your cart, or what the total amount of money you spent is.

You can also turn making dinner into quality time. Let your kids help you make dinner. You can even let them help come up with the menu for the week and if they are old enough, put them in charge of one of the dinner items. Cook together and talk about your days as you make dinner.

If you kids are younger, bath time is great quality time. Play with them while they are in the tub, or sit and make up games with them as they play in the bath. You can also turn this into quality education time if you want. Give them a cup and some coins and have them guess how many it will take to sink the cup. Fill it up and see how close she was.
